Construction Procurement Manager

JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY  

The basic function of the Purchasing Manager is to procure, expedite and schedule deliveries of materials and services to jobsite.                                                                                            
 

DUTIES INCLUDE (but not limited to)

  • Maintain and implement construction proforma / budget for each project
  • Negotiate pricing contracts with subcontractors and suppliers
  • Create scopes of work
  • Issue purchase orders for procurement and expedition of materials and equipment for jobs
  • Meet subcontractors and suppliers on-site as necessary
  • Ensure compliance to project budgets and provide analysis of deviations
  • Ensure accurate takeoffs to ensure budgets are accurate
  • Research new materials for design and cost savings
  • Maintain subcontractor and supplier insurance policies
  • Develop and implement new purchasing strategies to deliver ongoing cost reductions and process simplification
  • Maintain relationships with subcontractors and suppliers
  • Establish new relationships with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure adequate resources for all projects and to continually improve pricing and quality of work
  • Assist in ensuring awareness and company compliance to all building codes and local construction guidelines
  • Assist in maintaining company quality control program
  • Leverage technology, safety measures, and information sharing to increase productivity and profitability
  • Assist in settling invoice or contract disputes
  • Handle change order requests
  • Forecast upcoming demand
  • Maintain sub/supplier information on company online management systems
  • Manage materials/equipment inventory

  • Wage: based on Davis Bacon rates

Pipelayer

General Description


The Pipelayer position is responsible for performing various duties on construction projects.

Essential Functions

  • Install and repair sanitary, storm, sewer structures, and pipe systems
  • Read, identify, and understand blueprints related to all above and below ground utilities
  • Align and position pipes
  • Checks slopes for conformance to requirements, using instruments such as lasers and grade rod
  • Connect pipe pieces and seal joints
  • Cover pipe with earth or other materials
  • Level trench bases, using machinery or hand tools
  • Ensure a clean and safe working environment and addressing any potential safety concerns


Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years related experience and/or training
  • Knowledge of pipe laying method, practices, and procedures
  • Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledgeable of water, sewer, and storm drain system
  • Able to dig trenches to locate utilities by hand or using trenching tools

Underground utility Foremans

WPM Construction Services is looking for an experienced Underground Utility Foreman in the Underground/ Civil Construction Industry with preferred experience in South Florida. 

Requirements & Essential Functions

  • Work Hours: 6:30 AM - 5:30 PM with occasional Saturdays and early start/ late finish days.
  • Minimum 5 years of underground and/or civil construction experience, as a foreman.
  • Extensive Sewer, Water, Drainage, De-Watering, and Road Building Experience Required. 
  • Tracking and recording daily production of the crews and reporting back to the superintendent.
  • Inputting daily log books, time sheets, and other job-related paperwork.
  • Attend and facilitate coordination, production and safety meetings.
  • Communicate with on-site subcontractors, general contractors and/or owners.
  • Ensure job equipment and tools are maintained in good working order and are safe for use.
  • Participate in training and other forms of development to strengthen technical, safety and other skills.
  • Order and schedule equipment and material(s) deliveries as required.
  • Manage, supervise and coordinate onsite work crews.
  • Supervise installation and completion of work on time and budget.
  • Maintain a clean job site: ensure all tools and equipment are picked up and secure job site each day in order to eliminate potential hazards.
  • Operate construction equipment as required.
  • Ensure that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Have knowledge of and experience reading, understanding, and implementing drawings.
  • Good mathematical skills are required.
  • Must be competent with the use of a pipe laser and transit.
  • Must have the knowledge and ability to dewater as needed.
  • Must have strong interpersonal communication skills to work with a variety of people at different levels.
  • Thorough knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials, and supplies used in heavy construction work.
  • Must be adaptable and able to work in a variety of conditions.
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable safety precautions.
  • Excellent management skills are required to manage, lead and motivate employees.
  • Ability to work independently and direct daily activities of crew according to work schedule.
  • Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
